Jatinangor, 20 November 2025 – The Faculty of Law, Universitas Padjadjaran held a Studium Generale titled “The Urgency of a Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Law in Protecting Critical Infrastructure and National Cybersecurity,” featuring Prof. Dr. Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej, S.H., M.Hum., Deputy Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, as the keynote speaker. The event was conducted offline at the Tommy Koh Auditorium, Faculty of Law Unpad, and was also attended online via Zoom Meeting.
The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Learning, Student Affairs, and Research, R. Achmad Gusman Catur Siswandi, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., who expressed appreciation for the organization of a discussion on cybersecurity and cyber resilience an increasingly strategic national issue.
In his presentation, Prof. Edward explained the urgency of drafting the Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Bill, which is currently included in the 2025 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas Prioritas). He emphasized that such regulation is necessary to protect cyberspace and the digital ecosystem, which significantly affect national security, state sovereignty, economic stability, and public welfare. He also outlined several objectives of cybersecurity and cyber resilience development, including the protection of information infrastructure, strengthening digital competitiveness and innovation, and enhancing national and international cooperation to create a secure cyberspace.The event was also attended by the Deputy Head of the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN), Commissioner General of Police Albertus Rachmad Wibowo, who shared insights on BSSN’s role in strengthening national cybersecurity, particularly in safeguarding critical information infrastructure.
The interactive discussion session was moderated by Dr. Tasya Safiranita, S.H., M.H. Participants showed high enthusiasm, raising various questions related to regulatory challenges, digital security policies, and the urgency of strengthening cyber resilience in Indonesia.
Through this event, the Faculty of Law Unpad continues to strengthen its role in providing academic dialogue on strategic national issues, especially in the field of law and digital security, as part of the faculty’s commitment to supporting the development of cyber law literacy in Indonesia
