Jatinangor, May 21, 2026 - The Department of Environmental, Agrarian, and Spatial Law, Faculty of Law Universitas Padjadjaran held a Public Lecture on Spatial Planning Law on Thursday, 21 May 2026, from 13.00 to 14.40 WIB at the Faculty of Law classrooms, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor. The event featured Basuki Antariksa, a Junior Researcher at the Center for Public Policy Research of BRIN, who is also an alumnus of the International Law undergraduate program at FH Unpad and is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at his alma mater. His participation formed part of the “Alumni Mengajar” (Alumni Teaching) program.
In his presentation entitled “The Role of Law in Realizing Sustainable Cities through the Development of Slow Tourism”, the speaker addressed various modern urban challenges - including pollution, traffic congestion, land conversion, and over-tourism - while introducing the concepts of Slow City and Slow Tourism as approaches that balance economic growth with quality of life. Law was positioned as an instrument for controlling development and ensuring social and ecological justice through adaptive and participatory spatial planning regulations.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Law Unpad hopes that students will gain a more contextual perspective on the relationship between spatial planning law and sustainable urban development, while also strengthening the connection between the alma mater and its alumni.
This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 Quality Education, through the implementation of academic activities that contribute to the enhancement of higher education quality and the development of students’ knowledge and perspectives.
