Education:
Dr. Irawati Handayani, S.H., LL.M. is an academic and researcher in the field of international law, particularly human rights law and international refugee law. She earned her Bachelor of Laws degree from Padjadjaran University in 2002, then completed a Master of Laws in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (LL.M.) at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute-Lund University in 2007, and was awarded a Doctor of Laws degree from Padjadjaran University in 2016. Since 2003, Dr. Irawati has taught in the Department of International Law, focusing on Public International Law, Treaty Law, International Humanitarian Law, and International Human Rights Law.
As a researcher, she actively explores issues such as the Responsibility to Protect (RtoP), Jus Cogens, the Justiciability of Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights, and Migration and Refugee Law with a focus on ASEAN. Dr. Irawati frequently presents her research at international conferences, including the ASLI 10th Annual Conference in Bangalore in 2013 and the SEAHRN Conference in Manila in 2018. She also holds a certificate from the Hague Academy of International Law. Currently, he is an active member of the International Law Association (ILA), and his commitment to research and education makes him a key figure in the Indonesian academic community, contributing significantly to the understanding and application of international law and providing insights for policymakers on human rights and refugee issues in the ASEAN region.
